Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least eighteen years of age.
  • Applicants must have or obtain within the first 90 days of employment certifications in Medication Administration, Standard Precautions, First Aid and Choking, and Fire Safety through the Wisconsin Community-Based Care and Treatment Training Registry.
  • No experience is required.
  • Applicants must be able to stand and walk constantly; use hearing and speech for oral communication; hear body sounds, alarms, and malfunctioning machinery; lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 0–25 pounds frequently; reach, grip, and use a keyboard for data entry; and use near and distance vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Applicants must occasionally bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, sit, squat, perform repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements, judge distances and spatial relationships, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing 25–50 pounds, lift or move patients, use smell to detect odors, and drive.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals to residents, clean the dining room and kitchen after meals, complete water passes, distribute linens, set tables, and feed residents as assigned.
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties, including mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and making beds in public areas and resident rooms.
  • Serve as a resource for residents by addressing questions and concerns, resolving issues when able, and referring unresolved concerns to appropriate staff.
  • Clean resident utensils such as bedpans, urinals, and basins using good antiseptic practices, and clean lifts and other unit equipment as needed.
  • Maintain resident rooms, closets, and drawers; store food in proper containers; handle valuables carefully; clean resident wheelchairs and walkers; and notify maintenance when repairs are needed.
  • Wash and dry residents' clothing and linens when needed, return finished laundry to resident rooms, and stock resident bathrooms with linens.
  • Assist residents with weekly showers and bathing activities, including hair shampoo and nail care, as needed.
  • Transport residents to and from meals by wheelchair and to appointments as assigned.
  • Follow facility policies regarding skin care, bowel and bladder care, behaviors, fall prevention, nutrition, a restraint-free environment, pain control, prevention of activities of daily living decline, and resident activities.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and perform other assigned administrative duties.
