Assistant Manager

Job Description

To establish a framework for managing the developmental process of employees as their careers unfold. Emphasizes on the transition of the role of Learning & Development Manager from that of an administrative and support function to that of a “Business Partner” impacting favorably towards various parameters of business results. To achieve the same, the conscious keepers of “Quality” at the hotels must closely partner with operations to effectively understand and contribute towards performance metrics and focus on overall service experiences impacting NPS, QPR and Employee Engagement Scores. Learning interventions must be defined too keeping in mind specific development needs on the shop floor derived from guest feedback as well as from the PADP process.

FUNCTIONAL ROLE

1. Participates in development of talent development strategies which are aligned with overall business objectives of the Hotel
   1. Develops & implements strategies for hotel / departments
   2. Monitors status regularly and adjusts strategies as appropriate
   3. Develops & implements training plans which are aligned with hotel’s business strategies

1. Keeps Yes I Can! & 100% guest satisfaction alive within the hotel by facilitating learning and follow-ups on an ongoing basis
   1. Analyses guest feedback results frequently and identifies trends
   2. Conducts brand service training / refresher sessions
   3. Partners with HODs / Departmental Trainers to develop strategies for keeping Yes I Can! alive within the respective functions.
   4. Provides all new employees with a comprehensive induction program as part of the First 30 Days with Brand program to enable them to be orientated and efficiently productive from commencement

1. Creates a work environment aligned with Brand’s promise by conducting behavioural / management skills training on a regular basis
   1. Conducts soft skills training and follows-up with participants to assess utilisation of new skills.
   2. Ensures that employees attend all compliance training as scheduled; maintains and reviews tracking system regularly

1. Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the Yes I Can! experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations.  Provides employees with the training and resources they need to maximize employee engagement and deliver Yes I Can! service and teamwork
   1. Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service
   2. Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
   3. Provides Yes I Can! genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
   4. Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and uses their best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction
   5. Performs other duties required to provide the service brand behaviour and genuine hospitality

1. Adheres to hotel policies and procedures:

• Keeps immediate Supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objective of this position
• Maintains a favourable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster and promote a co-operative and harmonious working environment
• At all times projects a favourable image of the hotel to the public

Qualifications

• Only candidates with experience in the hotel industry are preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ progressive operations / functional experience at managerial level .
• Bachelors degree preferred, certificate in related field required
• An effective departmental Trainer
• Collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork
• Able to effectively conduct learning and development activities
• Experience in managing brand standards
• Able to collaborate effectively with hotel employees and HODs / managers to ensure teamwork
• Strong verbal / written communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness
• Pleasant personality
