Requirements
  • The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Political Science or Government; ABD candidates will be considered, but the Ph.D. must be conferred by the start date.
  • The candidate must demonstrate potential to develop an active research agenda that will secure external funding.
  • The candidate must have appropriate methodological skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate evidence of and commitment to establishing an excellent record of teaching and mentorship/advising.
  • The candidate must have excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active research agenda that advances the Department’s program in the area of judicial politics.
  • Teach classes that complement the Department’s current offerings at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Develop new course offerings.
  • Advise students.
  • Have the ability to teach effectively the department's undergraduate judicial politics introductory course and advanced undergraduate courses on constitutional law and civil liberties.
  • Develop advanced undergraduate judicial politics classes in their area(s) of expertise, e.g., comparative law, criminal law and policy, interdisciplinary law and society studies, trial courts, or related topics.
  • The teaching load is two courses per semester.
  • Regularly publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
  • Serve the community, university, and profession.
