Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date; a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Current Basic Life Support certification: either American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, while sitting, while walking; ability to climb stairs; ability to work indoors; ability to work outside in temperature extremes; ability to work from elevated areas; ability to work in confined/cramped spaces; ability to kneel, bend, twist, squat; ability to perform gross and fine motor movements; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted; ability to lift/lower objects from floor to 36 inches unassisted; ability to lift from 36 inches to overhead 25 pounds; ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; adequate vision and hearing; ability to work rotating shifts; ability to work overtime; ability to work in a latex safe environment; ability to maintain tactile sensory functions; ability to maintain olfactory sensory function for selected positions; ability to be physically qualified for respirator use for selected positions
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the nursing process; deliver safe and effective care; interact with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results
  • The unit specializes in care of patients who have received solid organ abdominal transplants and manages pre and post transplant patients including arterial lines and specialized drips; monitor transplant patients and provide care in medical-surgical setting as needed
Desired Qualifications
  • ACLS certified and proficient in peritoneal dialysis within the first 6 months of hire (required by unit)
  • Specialty certifications encouraged in transplant, wound care, and medical-surgical nursing
