Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience leading technical workstreams and experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar customer-facing technical role in the AI, cloud, data platform, or backend infrastructure space.
  • Experience running customer discovery, identifying the right questions, and translating ambiguity into clear architecture and next steps.
  • Experience scoping projects and estimating effort for end-to-end applications, including assumptions, risks, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Strong fluency in generative artificial intelligence and the evolving large language model ecosystem, with experience building or consulting on AI or generative artificial intelligence systems in production.
  • Expertise with production cloud infrastructure using Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform, along with modern deployment patterns.
  • Ability to balance speed and rigor, make technical tradeoffs, and explain them to engineers and executives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex technical concepts simple and actionable.
Responsibilities
  • Lead technical discovery with customers to understand workflows, constraints, data realities, and success criteria, and translate those findings into a clear technical plan.
  • Architect end-to-end artificial intelligence systems, including generative artificial intelligence and traditional machine learning when needed, spanning data ingestion, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, deployment, and user experience.
  • Design and deliver rapid prototypes to clarify abstract ideas and de-risk decisions involving cost, latency, reliability, integration feasibility, and quality thresholds.
  • Develop reference architectures and technical frameworks demonstrating what is possible with current and emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Guide clients through the artificial intelligence landscape, including capabilities, limitations, tradeoffs, and the requirements for operating artificial intelligence systems in production over time.
  • Partner with sales teams to translate technical concepts into value propositions, proposals, business cases, and technical presentations.
  • Define technical requirements and scalable architecture patterns for production-grade systems, including security, governance, observability, evaluation, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with fulfillment to align solutions with customer needs and Tribe AI capabilities, and help create smooth handoffs from pre-sales to delivery.
  • Stay current on frontier developments, bring in subject-matter experts from the Tribe network, and collaborate with OpenAI, Anthropic, and other partners to keep customers current on emerging capabilities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to technical and executive stakeholders navigating artificial intelligence implementation and adoption challenges.

Tribe AI is the AI delivery layer for the enterprise that helps organizations move AI ideas from frontier models into real-world applications through a platform plus services approach. It works by providing a platform that connects models with production systems and a services team that designs, builds, deploys, monitors, and governs AI workflows, turning concepts into live features with end-to-end integration and operation. It differentiates itself by offering both a production-focused platform and hands-on services tailored to enterprise needs such as governance, scalability, and reliability, bridging the gap between advanced models and working business applications. Its goal is to enable enterprises to bring AI use cases into production at scale, reducing friction and accelerating real-world impact across the organization.

What believers are saying

  • Pooja Brown became CTO on July 14, 2026, strengthening delivery and engineering leadership.
  • Tribe AI says it has 8-figure revenue run rate and Fortune 20 customers.
  • Enterprise AI implementation demand surged after ChatGPT, driving heavier project volume in 2026.

What critics are saying

  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and AWS can displace Tribe AI by shipping native enterprise services.
  • If Fortune 1000 customers standardize internal AI teams, Tribe AI's services margin compresses by 2027.
  • No disclosed venture-scale funding since 2024 raises execution risk if enterprise demand slows.

What makes Tribe AI unique

  • Tribe AI embeds forward-deployed engineers into Fortune 1000 workflows, not generic consultants.
  • Jaclyn Rice Nelson founded Tribe AI in 2019 with ex-Google AI credibility.
  • Google Cloud named Tribe AI a partner for Gemini Enterprise legal and financial services.

Tribe Ai’S Ceo On Why Generative Ai Is Seeing More Rapid Uptake By Enterprises Than Web3 And Crypto

Join top executives in San Francisco on July 11-12, to hear how leaders are integrating and optimizing AI investments for success. Learn More. After leaving Capital V, Google’s later-stage venture capital arm, in 2018, former Vice President of Growth Jaclyn Rice Nelson was struck by the tremendous number of talented engineering colleagues who had also left Google and other large tech giants where they’d spent the early parts of their careers, seeking to spread their wings but do so with more freedom. Rice Nelson was inspired by them to found a new firm — Tribe AI, based out of a historic and iconic brownstone house Brooklyn, New York. Tribe offers a “fractional network” of freelance software engineering talent and experts, particularly in machine learning and AI, that can be hired by its clients on demand to work on discrete projects and AI transitions for them. As Tribe puts it on its website, it offers “300+ machine learning engineers, strategists, and data scientists from leading technical institutions. We help companies unlock the full potential of AI, driving success and innovation like never before.” Tribe AI launched in 2019 and has seen steady success since then working with fellow startups and steadily larger clients, but has never been busier than the last six months, following the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and the continuing rush by companies of all sizes and various industries to embrace generative AI.Rice Nelson, who serves as Tribe AI’s CEO, recently made time to speak with VentureBeat over Zoom to discuss more about her approach to growing her company, her take on the generative AI craze, and why gen AI is succeeding and drawing more investment and public attention than the last two big waves of venture interest — metaverse and web3/NFTs/cryptocurrencies.
