FINANCE DIRECTOR – CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT

The person in this high visibility role will serve as the lead financial business partner embedded within Kroger’s Alternative Profit Corporate Development team and other teams responsible for new business development at 84.51° and Kroger. This role will partner with business teams, the R&D/Investment Committee and Deal Committee throughout the deal lifecycle with a key focus on driving consistency in financial modeling and deal structuring and making recommendations to executives on choices and risks within the deal portfolio/pipeline to maximize the Company’s long-range plans. This role will lead a team of finance professionals who create and maintain financial models, develop/review commercial structures, and perform complex financial analyses. Assignments will often be highly ambiguous and require an independent, intellectually curious individual who can frame situations through multiple lenses including the end-customer, business owner, and corporate finance professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support, in a leadership role, the evaluation of a wide range of business opportunities, including M&A, investments, commercial partnerships and other strategic options
• Lead the team in performing dynamic financial analyses, associated metrics and sensitivity/scenario analyses that guide decision-making among senior business leaders and Corporate / Business Development teams
• Lead due diligence efforts and conduct extensive research on industries, potential partners, and competitors and communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and the executive team
• Independently lead the team in calculating and aligning on appropriate negotiating ranges in commercial deals/partnerships with executives in partnership with the Alternative Profit Deal Committee
• Partner with business teams to maintain a clear and consistent risk-adjusted deal and partnership pipeline for Kroger’s Alternative Profit portfolio including translation of potential impacts to long-range planning and prioritization of workload and intake process for the Corporate Development Finance team
• Lead the partnership with our Commercial Finance and Accounting teams on appropriate set-up and transfer of long-term FP&A responsibilities for new business lines or partnerships including assisting with initial capital and business case requests and flow-through impacts of structures on underlying results post-close.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7-10 years of leadership experience in corporate development, FP&A, M&A, private equity, or other transaction-related / due diligence experience
• BA / BS degree required (Accounting/Finance preferred) | MBA or CFA preferred
• Excellent business judgment and persuasive oral/written communication skills
• Strong ability to lead a team through creation of financial models from a business concept to commercial agreement signature with ability to rapidly and accurately deliver that information in a meaningful simplified way to executives and leadership teams
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in independent desk research (competitive intel, data subscriptions, etc.)
• Advanced proficiency with commercial deal and valuation modeling techniques including three statement models, discounted cash flow and market multiple modeling and scenario-based modeling techniques (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations)
• Prior experience in forming creative deal structures to maximize value back to the Company is a plus
