Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Min. 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in a chemical plant or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), SPCC, and hazardous waste management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify gaps in existing programs and develop solutions to ensure compliance and sustainability.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including Clean Water, Waste, Air Quality, Pollution Control, and other applicable standards.
  • Conduct environmental inspections (e.g., NESHAP FF, generator hours, opacity, Leak Detection and Repair [LDAR]) and perform environmental sampling.
  • Plan, oversee, and review source testing for plant emission units.
  • Support key environmental programs, including hazardous waste management, stormwater, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC).
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies and maintain online compliance databases.
  • Collect, track, and analyze environmental data to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and coordinate ongoing permit renewal processes.
  • Collaborate with the legal team on permit documentation and compliance matters.
  • Oversee the site’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, including energy use, production, and air emissions.
  • Lead meetings, produce agendas and minutes, and manage communications with the Southwest Clean Air Agency (SWCAA) regarding permits.
  • Implement and manage construction, NSPR, and BACT permits.
  • Develop and maintain air-related programs, forecast regulatory changes, and provide training to management and operations teams.
  • Execute environmental programs, follow established guidelines, and independently resolve issues when necessary.
