About Our Internship Program:

Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. The interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team-oriented and collaborative.

The Job:

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to support Embedded Software Engineering with key activities including:

• Software development: Assist in designing, coding, and testing embedded software for consumer products, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

• Firmware development: Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and maintain firmware for embedded systems, including device drivers, communication protocols, and system integration.

• Debugging and troubleshooting: Support the identification and resolution of software defects and performance issues through debugging, testing, and analysis.

• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including software requirements, design specifications, and user manuals.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of software with hardware components and overall product functionality.

• Testing and validation: Assist in developing test plans and conducting software testing to ensure software reliability, performance, and compliance with specifications.

You will have exposure to several areas of the Embedded Software Engineering at Stanley Black & Decker.

The Person:

The ideal Embedded Software Engineering intern candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Be a rising junior or senior with a target graduation date of 2026 or 2027.

• Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering

• Strong programming skills in languages such as C/C++

• Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems.

• Experience with software debugging and testing tools.

• Successfully manages strong academics alongside extracurricular activities.
