Requirements
  • A California teaching credential in the assigned subject area and a valid English Learner Authorization are required.
  • A California Single Subject Credential in Science: Physics or Specialized: Physics, clear or preliminary, is acceptable.
  • A California University or District Intern Credential in Science: Physics is acceptable with an intern-eligibility letter.
  • A California Single Subject Credential with a Specific Supplementary Authorization in Physics, clear or preliminary, is acceptable.
  • An equivalent out-of-state credential transferring to California is acceptable.
  • Applicants without a credential must provide a transcript for evaluation to determine eligibility for an emergency teaching permit.
  • Applicants must have a current credential or a verifiable pathway toward obtaining a California teaching credential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong academic content expertise, instructional and classroom management skills, and knowledge of evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Candidates must know how to use data, technology, and innovative teaching methods to monitor scholar growth and progress.
  • Candidates must have strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with children and adults.
  • Team members must complete a LiveScan background check and TB clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a positive, achievement-oriented, supportive, and collaborative classroom culture with high expectations.
  • Execute assigned curriculum and just-in-time supports to reach every scholar, regardless of academic background, disability, or English language fluency.
  • Internalize assigned curriculum tied to grade-level and content standards, individually and in teacher teams, to prepare daily lesson plans, instructional materials, and exit tickets.
  • Use exit tickets, unit tests, interim exams, and other assessment data to determine differentiated reteaching needed to advance scholars toward mastery.
  • Collaborate with peers to provide appropriate support and accommodations for scholars accessing grade-level content.
  • Provide scholars with opportunities aligned with the Alliance College-Ready Graduate Profile.
  • Create a coherent and supportive classroom culture that supports scholar engagement, learning, and well-being.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, families, scholars, and alumni.
  • Lead advisory classes that build relationships, support social-emotional growth, and strengthen school culture.
  • Participate in regular instructional coaching and weekly professional development.
