Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of critical aircraft structures.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS, NASTRAN, or other finite element software.
  • Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance of composites.
  • Knowledge of high-cycle and low-cycle fatigue in metallic components.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret computer-aided design models.
  • Computer-aided design experience; NX is preferred.
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed structural analyses of dynamic system components, including the rotor system, control system, and blades.
  • Evaluate static strength and fatigue life of critical structures using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis for flight loads and ground load conditions.
  • Evaluate component life and dynamic response of dynamically loaded metallic and composite components subject to high-cycle and low-cycle fatigue.
  • Author structural substantiation reports and other required technical documentation to meet program needs.
  • Support full-scale component ground testing and flight testing, including test requirements, layout, instrumentation, and data reduction.
  • Develop best practices for structural analysis of critical aerospace structures.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamics and loads and dynamics teams to design high-performance propeller and rotor blades.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure on-time delivery of data.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and analysis of rotorcraft dynamic systems, including rotors, control systems, and propeller or rotor blades.
  • Background in ground and flight testing of critical composite aerospace structures.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration aircraft and/or rotorcraft loads and dynamics regulations, including FAR Parts 23, 27, 33, and 35, and associated advisory materials.
  • Experience with static and dynamic loads derivation for fixed-wing vehicles and/or vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
  • Ability to perform aeroelastic analysis on vertical takeoff and landing dynamic systems.
  • Prior involvement in Federal Aviation Administration or military rotorcraft certification efforts.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB scripting.

Archer Aviation CEO upbeat as eVTOL maker nears US commercial launch with $1.56B cash reserve

Archer Aviation CEO Adam Goldstein projects confidence despite the company not yet generating meaningful revenue or achieving profitability. Archer Aviation has agreed to acquire three Boeing businesses — Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid — in exchange for newly issued Archer stock. When the deal closes, Boeing will receive a 19.75% stake in Archer's Class A shares. The acquisition significantly bolsters Archer's defense business. Wisk has completed more than 1,700 eVTOL flight tests, whilst SkyGrid provides air traffic management. Archer's shares initially surged 25% on the news before settling to a 13% gain.

Archer plans Boeing acquisitions worth $200M+ to expand defense and AI aviation platform

Archer acquires Boeing's drone and air-taxi units for $200M+ revenue and 19.75% stake

Boeing retains access to Wisk's autonomous flight technology and gains a board seat. The transaction requires antitrust and national security clearance, with completion expected by year-end 2026.
