Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in simulation and modeling terrain-vehicle systems using computational modeling techniques, Finite Element Modeling (FEM), and Discrete Element Modeling (DEM), and experimental testing of terrain properties for terrain-vehicle simulation and modeling.
Focus on simulation and modeling of tire-soft soil interaction using coupled FEM-DEM, along with conducting experimental tests of tire testing on soft soils and measurement of terrain properties.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in writing scripts using commercial and open-source DEM codes, multi-physics coupling of FEM-DEM, and soil mechanics testing
Publication in peer-reviewed journals
Experience producing engineering reports on projects; experience with graduate and undergraduate researchers at a lab.
