Clyde & Co captures insurance partner in London.

Clyde & Co captures insurance partner in London. The firm continues growth of London-based insurance team with DAC Beachcroft partner hire. Insurance lawyer Jack Holling has departed DAC Beachcroft after a seven-year tenure to join Clyde & Co's London office as a partner in its financial lines team. Announcing the hire yesterday (4 August), Clyde & Co said Holling's arrival would bolster the firm's insurance coverage capabilities and expand its strategic focus on emerging and complex risks. Holling has almost 20 years' experience advising London-based market insurers on high-value and cross-border coverage disputes. He is particularly known for his work in warranty and indemnity (W&I) insurance, with experience guiding insurers and managing general agents (MGAs) on claims arising from mergers and acquisitions transactions. His practice also covers cyber coverage matters and financial lines policies, including directors and officers, financial institutions and professional indemnity risks. "Clyde & Co has an outstanding reputation in the global insurance market and an unparalleled track record in handling the insurance market's most challenging issues," said Holling in a statement. "The firm's depth of expertise, international reach and collaborative culture make it the ideal environment to continue developing my practice, particularly in W&I and cyber insurance." Holling joined DAC Beachcroft in 2019 and made partner three years later. Prior to this, he spent six years at Norton Rose Fulbright. Clyde & Co's financial lines practice head Louisa Robbins commented: "Jack is widely recognised for his expertise in warranty & indemnity insurance and for his deep understanding of specialist insurance products. His arrival strengthens our coverage offering at a time when insurers are facing increasingly complex and cross-border risks. Jack's entrepreneurial approach, strong client following and technical reputation make him an excellent fit for our financial lines team." It's been a busy week so far for Clyde & Co. The news of Holling's hire came hot on the heels of the 3 August announcement that commercial disputes lawyer Andrew Pullinger had joined the firm's Perth office as partner in a boost to its disputes capabilities in Australia.

Clyde & Co continues to expand global aviation practice with partner hire of Nick Humphrey in Dubai: Clyde & Co.

Clyde & Co continues to expand global aviation practice with partner hire of Nick Humphrey in Dubai: Clyde & Co. 1 hour ago Partner hire further bolsters firm's aviation offering across the Middle East and Africa, and follows aviation partner hire in Dubai of Bushra Abu Tayeh in April 2026 Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the further expansion of its global aviation practice with the partner hire of Nick Humphrey. Nick will be based in Dubai with a practice spanning the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and Asia Pacific. Nick represents international airlines, aircraft operators and owners, airports, ports, aviation service providers, maintenance and repair organisations and trade credit providers, their brokers and insurers. His practice covers regulatory, commercial, project, and contentious matters, including complex cross-border arbitrations under LCIA, DIAC and ICC rules. He has a strong understanding of regional aviation policy and investment frameworks, advising clients on regulatory structuring, concession agreements, and cross-border aviation transactions. He regularly handles matters across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and Asia Pacific including some of the most austere and challenging jurisdictions in the world. Nick previously led the aviation practice in the Middle East at another international firm, and held senior in-house roles at Emirates Group and at multimodal logistics provider Supreme Group. Nick returns to the firm, having worked at Clyde & Co from 2014-2016. He has been consistently recognised by legal directories including Lexology Client Choice Award - Aviation (UAE), Best of the Best Global Expert Guide - Top 30 Aviation Practitioners, as well as in Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal500, Doyles Guide, and Who's Who Legal. Significant market growth and opportunities Nick's hire is a strategic investment in the firm's global aviation practice, strongly positioning it to support clients through a period of significant industry transformation, with the sector responding to challenges around aircraft availability and supply-chain pressure, and increasingly fragmented regulatory and airspace frameworks. The Middle East and Asia Pacific remain critical aviation corridors for global connectivity. Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing aviation market globally, driven by rising passenger demand, fleet expansion and increasing cross-border investment. At the same time, Middle Eastern carriers continue to expand, supported by major government-backed aviation strategies, airport developments and substantial aircraft orders. Nick says: I look forward to working with the firm's global practice and leverage its Middle East presence to assist local and regional clients as they capitalise on the expanding aviation markets while navigating the complex, and rapidly evolving, global environment. Kevin Sutherland, Partner and Chair of the Global Aviation Practice Group, comments: This hire reflects the firm's longer term growth strategy in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, where aviation market expansion is forecast to outpace more mature regions such as Europe and North America. Alongside its global and regional practice, Nick is ideally placed to unlock significant potential, assisting global and local clients as they take advantage of this market growth. Peter Hodgins, Partner and Chair of Clyde & Co's Middle East and Africa Board, said: I am delighted to welcome Nick to the team. The region continues to attract significant investment in airlines and airport infrastructure, driving demand for sophisticated legal advice across the sector. Strong global and regional offering The firm's global aviation practice brings together over 120 specialist lawyers across over 70 offices worldwide, including lawyers with experience working for government regulators, in-house for airlines, as aeronautical engineers, aircraft and powerplant mechanics, pilots, flight attendants and inflight safety instructors. Regionally, the aviation practice has most recently been strengthened with the partner hire of aviation liability specialist Bushra Abu Tayeh in April 2026, and the relocation from London to Singapore of aviation finance partner Jahnavi Ramachandran. Clyde & Co is one of few firms able to provide an end-to-end aviation legal service, covering all sectors of the aviation industry with specialist knowledge, and operating through a single global practice group. The firm recently marked 100 years of advising clients on aviation law, through its earlier merger with Beaumont & Son. With over 35 years of experience across the Middle East and Africa, Clyde & Co's on-the-ground team comprises 94 partners and more than 270 legal professionals. The addition of 14 new partners since the start of 2025 reflects the firm's continued investment in the region, further enhancing its ability to deliver market-leading advice to clients as they pursue growth opportunities and navigate an evolving business and regulatory environment.

Clyde & Co loses aviation disputes partner to litigation boutique.

Clyde & Co loses aviation disputes partner to litigation boutique. An aviation litigator with more than 25 years' experience has departed Clyde & Co to join Alius Law. London-based litigation boutique Alius Law has bolstered its aviation finance disputes practice with the appointment of aviation litigator Richard Mumford as partner. The hire was confirmed on 20 July. Mumford joins from Clyde & Co's global aviation practice, bringing experience in complex aviation and commercial disputes, as well as fraud and regulatory matters. With more than 25 years' experience, he has worked on disputes relating to leasing, aircraft and engine finance, and complex regulatory and financial structures. Alius Law founder, Bree Taylor, who heads the firm's aviation disputes practice, said Mumford's hire comes at an "exciting moment" as clients face "increasingly complex and high-value disputes driven by supply chain issues, tariffs, economic uncertainty and the wars in the Middle East, Ukraine and Russia". As Mumford noted: "Aviation finance is going through one of the most turbulent periods I have seen in 25 years and clients need advisers who can move fast and think commercially." Mumford began his legal career in the early 1990s with stints at CMS Cameron McKenna (now CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang) and Arnander, Irvine & Zietman (now Shook, Hardy & Bacon) before taking on a managerial position at the Enforcement Division of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), which split into the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) in 2013. Returning to private practice in 2003, Mumford spent nine years as head of dispute resolution, and later head of aviation, at ASB Law (now Knights), followed by stints at Stevens & Bolton and REN Legal, which was acquired by Clyde & Co in 2021. "I was drawn to Alius as they prioritise client outcomes without the constraints of traditional law firm structures," Mumford commented. "I am looking forward to working alongside a team that shares that mindset and contributing to a firm that can genuinely claim to be the market leader in aviation finance disputes."
