Staff Developer

The Opportunity:

In this role you will leverage your experience to architect, design, advise, troubleshoot, lead, and support all technical aspects of our software and processes. You will be instrumental in ensuring we deliver quality, performant, cost-effective software at the fastest possible velocity.

Staff Developers in Euna Payments work with product teams to design technical solutions and to ensure our platform will meet those needs.  They work with the Dev Ops, Security, and IT departments to keep our system up-to-date and in compliance. They work with QA to ensure that QA efforts are in sync with our software goals and requirements. They lead triage efforts on major issues including performance, functionality/bugs, and system outages. They are also responsible for shaping and guiding our technical roadmap.

• Many years experience developing scalable backend solutions using an object oriented language (typically, ten years would be a minimum threshold)
• Deep understanding of system architecture and best design principles, their tradeoffs and best practices in its execution
• A proven track record of accurately assessing risk, the level of effort, and successfully committing to achieving major milestones of large-scale initiatives
• Experience with both functional and object-oriented programming
• Team experience with one or more Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
• Resourceful and comfortable working without complete information
• Ability to prioritize tasks and self manage
• Experience working with (required), designing and implementing (preferred) safe and efficient CI/CD systems
• Prior professional experience with either Rails or Elixir preferred
• Experience with embedded hardware systems preferred

What you would do:

• Expand and set course the direction of our platform to best serve our customers, who are typically government agencies, through a highly available, scalable, reliable, and easy to implement architecture
• Lead organization-wide initiatives to improve our software, infrastructure, tooling, and processes
• Own, manage, and prioritize our technical roadmap. This includes leading the technical planning and ensuring relevant stakeholders have the context of items on our technical roadmap and how those items deliver value to our clients
• Efficiently create maintainable documentation to clearly communicate system design
• Promote best practices in design, development, maintenance, and security
• Mentor colleagues to facilitate their growth and improvement 
• Provide peer code and design reviews to ensure high quality standards
