Responsibilities
  • Participate in the full development life cycle, including design, implementation, quality testing, and release
  • Leverage your strengths and interests to work on full feature implementation from high-scale concurrent processes, to security and network traffic, to system development and services APIs
  • Develop and optimize high-performance backend systems at scale
  • Gather test data, implement unit tests, develop integration tests, apply testing frameworks, and evaluate end-to-end outcomes
  • Minimize errors and repetitive human effort with automation
  • Work in close cooperation with the Product team to deliver innovative solutions, optimize the existing systems, and add new features
  • Join a growing global engineering team and use your technical skills to drive value and impact business decisions

Mobile game advertising spend on YouTube increased as companies targeted high-value audiences over download volume. Non-game apps hit $85B in spending, overtaking mobile games as AI adoption triples

In 2025, consumers spent approximately $85 billion on non-game mobile apps, surpassing game spending for the first time globally and marking a 21% year-over-year increase, according to Sensor Tower's annual report. Generative AI drove the growth, with in-app purchase revenue in this category more than tripling to exceed $5 billion. AI app downloads doubled to reach 3.8 billion, led by ChatGPT, Google Gemini and DeepSeek. ChatGPT alone generated $3.4 billion in global revenue. Consumers spent 48 billion hours in generative AI apps, 3.6 times the 2024 total. Session volume topped one trillion, growing faster than downloads, indicating deepening user engagement. OpenAI and DeepSeek accounted for nearly 50% of global downloads, whilst big tech publishers increased their market share from 14% to nearly 30%.

Global in-app purchase revenue reached $167 billion in 2025, up 10% year-over-year, with non-gaming apps surpassing games for the first time, according to Sensor Tower's annual State of Mobile report. Boosted by generative AI services, non-gaming IAP revenue rose 21% year-over-year, nearly triple the amount spent five years earlier. ChatGPT ranked as the third-highest grossing app of 2025, behind TikTok and Google One. Global consumers spent 5.3 trillion hours on apps, with social media accounting for nearly 2.5 trillion hours. AI apps saw exceptional download growth of 148% year-over-year, whilst short-form drama apps surged 278%. Social media, streaming and dating remained the largest sources of non-gaming IAP revenue.
