Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The candidate must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Direct experience with Microsoft Office Suite and web navigation and/or web-based applications is required.
Responsibilities
  • Process UB-04 and HCFA-1500 claims through the related billing system and claims scrubber, ensuring complete and accurate claim information.
  • Prioritize scheduled duties to submit claims timely and maximize cash flow.
  • Verify billing data accuracy and make necessary revisions.
  • Identify and report claim-submission issue trends to the management team.
  • Obtain and maintain a basic understanding of assigned third-party billing requirements, including federal, state, and commercial payers.
  • Manage accounts receivable and investigate and review claims according to management productivity standards.
  • Analyze daily aging of insurance accounts to determine follow-up for nonpayment and delayed-payment accounts and ensure policy compliance.
  • Analyze denied claims, investigate denial causes, and take necessary action to resolve denials or accounts.
  • Resolve problematic accounts and payment discrepancies to obtain accurate payments and maximize reimbursement.
  • Status claim resolutions, appeals, and corrected claims through payer websites when possible.
  • Perform the stated physical and sensory duties, including prolonged sitting, data entry and typing, occasional lifting and carrying, and frequent stooping, bending, or reaching.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Medical Billing/Coding Program certificate is preferred.
  • Experience with third-party billing in a hospital, similar medical facility, or physician’s office is preferred.
