Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of customer service experience is required.
  • Experience with typing, word processing, and computer applications is required.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including night and weekend shifts, and cover staffing gaps as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Complete patient registrations, discharges, and transfers.
  • Collect and verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Obtain required consent signatures.
  • Ensure all necessary forms are completed and distributed.
  • Communicate important details regarding a patient’s visit or admission.
  • Greet patients and family members and offer assistance upon arrival.
  • Complete pre-registration and registration steps, including patient interviews, insurance verification, photo identification collection, consent signatures, and distribution of required patient documentation.
  • Coordinate accurate data collection to verify insurance eligibility and determine financial obligations, including collecting co-pays.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Memorial Health policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Provide required informational materials at all patient access points.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency procedures.
  • Assist or transport patients in wheelchairs to their service location.
  • Communicate with co-workers and management regarding patient issues, follow-ups, or concerns.
  • Prioritize patient assistance based on medical urgency.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new staff.
  • Maintain professionalism and respectful conduct with patients, visitors, peers, and leadership.
  • Support and communicate the mission, vision, and goals of the department and Memorial Health.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures.
  • Engage in self-directed learning and participate in annual continuing education activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects assigned by the manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a medical office, registration, or billing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
