Requirements
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of culinary education and experience.
  • SERV-SAFE certification or equivalent.
  • Any locally, state, and/or county-required food handling or sanitation licenses and/or certificates.
  • Ability to work safely and alertly.
  • Ability to take ownership of associate and resident safety.
  • Disclosure of any medication that might impair the ability to perform the job safely or competently.
Responsibilities
  • Produce and oversee breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to schedule, ensuring meal presentation and portion-control quality.
  • Prepare and coordinate meals using standardized recipes.
  • Assist with preparation for the following day’s menu.
  • Participate in pre-meal meetings with food servers to review the daily menu.
  • Keep stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean and rotated; label, date, and store food according to local, state, and county health department policies.
  • Ensure adequate culinary staffing for each shift and arrange coverage for absences.
  • Assist with menu and recipe development.
  • Assist with food ordering and inventory management.
  • Assist with maintaining budget compliance for daily food costs.
  • Assist with applying appropriate loss-prevention procedures.
  • Assist with employee training and scheduling in accordance with human resources policy.
  • Assist with coordinating and executing special events.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food preparation according to state and local health department codes.
  • Provide training for all kitchen staff.
  • Maintain daily interaction with residents.
  • Perform the Executive Chef’s duties when the Executive Chef is not on the property.
  • Attend required community meetings and participate in Life Enrichment activities when able.
  • Complete required courses in adherence to HRA University.
  • Perform required duties on a regular, predictable basis.
  • Become familiar with reporting a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for community residents.
