The Role
We are seeking a highly qualified and talented Cloud Automation Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team. You will report to the Lead Cloud Engineer and focus on designing, building, and supporting Schonfeld’s Cloud Platform. The team is focused on building and delivering a hybrid platform as a service allowing users to easily build and scale their workloads in the cloud.
What you’ll do
The Cloud Automation Engineer will be using automation to support and maintain all components of the Schonfeld Cloud environment. One day you might be deploying and managing cloud environments via Terraform, while another day be leveraging Python to simplify and streamline deployment operations tasks. You may even decide to use Go to build custom Terraform Providers. When working with technology teams, you might advise them on how to ensure performance and cost objectives are met as a trusted advisor in the Cloud. As a custodian of the Cloud platform, you will have operational responsibilities (which you may decide to automate) such as implementation and optimization of server monitoring tools to maintain visibility on capacity, security, or availability or need to implement a paved path to integrate a new AWS feature. With a long-term goal of supportability, you will likely spend time designing new ways of automating core systems, documenting processes, or testing new functionality. You will also be on an L3 on-call rotation, where every other month you will spend a week handling incoming support requests to ensure that the automations you’re creating are delivering the right business value.
What you’ll bring
What you need:
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience creating documentation of common processes
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code platforms (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience automating repetitive requests
- Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve AWS Cloud, Linux and network related technical problems
- Experience with a variety of Amazon Services required: EC2, IAM, DynamoDB, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, and Kubernetes, Lambda.
- Basic understanding of Networking fundamentals like HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, and VPC
We’d love if you had:
- Experience building Serverless/Event-Driven Architectures
- Experience in Golang
- Experience with version control/Jenkins/Github Actions.
- Experience building end-to-end cloud solutions from design to implementation
- Interest in Financial Markets
- Experience serving as an internal point of contact on customer escalations and ensure customer issues are resolved as expediently as possible.
- Completion of an Associate AWS Certification and Terraform Certification – If you do not already have these certifications, the company will arrange that you complete one once hired.

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. The base pay for this role is expected to be between $100,000 and $200,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
