Requirements
  • Hold current, unencumbered Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the state where teaching occurs.
  • Have either 3+ years of bedside experience with a minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, or 6+ years of bedside experience with a minimum associate degree.
  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Meet faculty requirements established by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of nursing practice and current clinical-setting experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to mentor students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • Work independently without close supervision.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
  • Successfully handle day-to-day operations in the nursing laboratory.
  • Demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Obtain Assessment Technology Institute certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain current immunizations and Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and applying innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
  • Use online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning, or acquire the skills to do so.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising course syllabi and instructional guidelines.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection by required deadlines.
  • Update and maintain student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
  • Teach courses at various times and locations according to program needs.
  • Teach lecture content and clinical rotations, including weekday, evening, and weekend assignments.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain continuing-education hours for renewed licensure.
  • Stay current with college updates.
  • Participate in assigned committees while prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
  • Collaborate on site with students, faculty, and staff.
