The American Red Cross provides emergency relief and humanitarian aid by mobilizing volunteers, donors, and staff to respond to disasters and everyday needs. Its main activities include collecting and supplying blood, running disaster response operations, offering life-saving training (such as CPR and first aid), supporting military families, and promoting preparedness in communities. The organization works by coordinating volunteers, managing blood banks and donation drives, deploying resources during emergencies, and teaching people essential emergency skills. What sets it apart from many other aid groups is its nationwide network and established infrastructure that combines disaster response, blood services, and preparedness programs under one umbrella, backed by a steady flow of donations and volunteers. The goal is to prevent and relieve human suffering by being ready to help at any time, at home and around the world.

Your church volunteers need better training - here's how.

Your church volunteers need better training - here's how. American Red Cross offers new Community Adaptation Programs to help churches strengthen volunteer management and community impact. ChurchStacks July 12, 2026 The American Red Cross has announced expanded Volunteering & Community Adaptation Programs (CAP) designed to help organizations, including faith-based groups, strengthen their volunteer infrastructure and community response capacity. The program offers structured training and resources for volunteer management. Why It Matters Small-to-mid-size churches often rely heavily on volunteers but lack formal training systems. Poorly managed volunteers lead to burnout, inconsistent service delivery, and lost community trust. Structured volunteer programs - like those offered through Red Cross partnerships - help churches multiply their impact while protecting volunteer wellbeing and ensuring quality community outreach. The Takeaway Explore whether your church can partner with the American Red Cross or similar organizations to formalize volunteer training, which strengthens both your team's effectiveness and your church's credibility in the community.

Community recap: Relief Fire Company No. 3 hosts successful Summer Blood Drive. BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION Event Date: June 16, 2026 BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Relief Fire Company No. 3 of the Burlington Township Fire Department partnered with the American Red Cross to host its annual Summer Blood Drive. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of its local residents, the event was a massive success! Btfd had a phenomenal turnout, with over 30 incredible individuals rolling up their sleeves to donate life-saving blood. In times when blood supplies are historically low, its community showed up in a big way to prove that together, Btfd is stronger. The firehouse was full of positive energy, complete with handwritten thank-you cards from local students cheering on its donors, and plenty of post-donation snacks to keep everyone refueled. Every single donation has the potential to save up to three lives, meaning the impact of this single afternoon will ripple out to help dozens of patients facing medical emergencies, surgeries, and critical treatments. A recap flyer highlighting moments from the day can be seen below. What's Next? Because of this amazing response, Btfd cannot wait to host the American Red Cross again for another drive supporting this vital cause. Btfd will keep the community posted across its website and social media channels as soon as the next date is locked in and registration links become available. The Burlington Township Fire Department and the members of Relief Fire Company No. 3 extend its deepest gratitude to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who made this day possible. You are the true heroes! Stay tuned to its website for upcoming department events, community outreach initiatives, and fire safety updates.
