Requirements
- Knowledge of wastewater collection system operation and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of lift station inspection, repair, and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of the hazards inherent to sewer maintenance work and the safety measures used to mitigate those hazards.
- Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the maintenance of lift station equipment.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in analyzing problems and developing and implementing solutions.
- Skill in using lift station maintenance tools and equipment.
- Skill in preparing required reports.
- Knowledge and competency commonly associated with specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties, usually associated with completing an apprenticeship or internship or having held a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid Georgia driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Georgia Water/Wastewater Plant Maintenance Technologist Class III license.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair wastewater lift stations to prevent sanitary sewer overflows and maintain proper efficiency.
- Research, locate, and acquire parts and equipment as needed.
- Change motors and replace motor wiring.
- Maintain and inspect control panel box components.
- Repair pumps and clean valves.
- Clean bar screens, replace belts, grease bearings, and maintain level controls.
- Mow grass around the station.
- Perform related duties.
