Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • One (1) year of experience in street maintenance, traffic control, construction, or a related field preferred
  • IMSA Level I certification in traffic signs and markings or ability to obtain certification within one (1) year
  • Work Zone Safety Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required within one (1) year of hire date
  • OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of traffic control devices and pavement markings in accordance with MUTCD standards
  • Knowledge of roadway safety practices and work zone traffic control
  • Knowledge of equipment, materials, and methods used in sign installation and pavement marking
  • Ability to work safely in high-traffic environments and follow safety procedures
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Skill in operating pavement marking equipment and performing equipment maintenance
  • Skill in installing, repairing, and fabricating traffic signs
  • Skill in reading work orders, maps, and basic plans
Responsibilities
  • Installs, places, and maintains regulatory, warning, and guide signs, as well as pavement markings, in compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Operates and maintains pavement marking equipment, including paint trucks and related systems
  • Removes existing pavement markings and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on striping equipment
  • Installs, repairs, and replaces street signage throughout the City
  • Fabricates traffic signs and assists with work orders generated through citizen request tracking systems
  • Coordinates utility locates by notifying Colorado 811 prior to sign installation or excavation activities
  • Maintains accurate records of traffic control devices using GPS and asset management systems
  • Assists with traffic control setup and ensures safe work zone practices in accordance with established standards
  • Orders materials and supplies as directed to support operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned in alignment with division goals and operational needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
