Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Possess good cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, procedural skills, and communication abilities.
  • Retrieve, communicate, and present data and information verbally and in writing.
  • Be flexible with work scheduling and exercise discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.
  • Hold a current Physician Assistant-Certified license.
  • Hold a current Drug Enforcement Administration license within three months of hiring.
  • Hold current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications.
Responsibilities
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for structural heart and cardiopulmonary bypass patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement or coronary artery bypass graft procedures.
  • Assist in procedural planning and patient evaluation for transcatheter and surgical cases.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in rounding, patient education, and discharge planning coordination.
  • Support program development, data tracking, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in administrative functions to enhance clinical workflow and program growth.
  • Develop cardiovascular diagnoses, formulate treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Use evidence-based medicine practices to provide quality, cost-effective care.
  • Educate patients and families about the cardiovascular disease process, including primary and secondary cardiac prevention, while considering their emotional, physical, and cultural needs.
  • Manage an assigned patient caseload using organizational skills.
  • Communicate and present information effectively to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Prescribe pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies.
  • Provide counseling and education to meet patient needs.
  • Coordinate the delivery of care for pre- and post-operative open-heart and structural-heart patients in collaboration with staff and physicians.
  • Collect Society of Thoracic Surgeons data and present it at department meetings.
  • Support the medical center's mission, strategic plan, performance improvement plan, organizational expectations, and related initiatives.

  • A current Drug Enforcement Administration license at the time of hiring.
