Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a qualified welder
  • Must possess a valid state Commercial Driver License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record or be able to obtain a valid state CDL within 90 days of hire, and must maintain the CDL and an acceptable driving record during employment
  • Must possess and maintain welding qualification in accordance with American Welding Society standards for the equipment and material utilized
  • Any prior experience with government contracts and locations is helpful
  • Basic to intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Physical Demands: Lift/carry/push/slide up to 50 pounds routinely; Bend, squat, stoop, crouch, and lean; Sit for long periods of time operating a computer keyboard; Repeat the same movements; Exposure to excessive noise
  • Security clearance requirements: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required
Responsibilities
  • Analyzing malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains heavy equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools
  • Operating and inspecting machines or equipment to diagnose defects
  • Dismantling and reassembling equipment, using hoists and hand tools
  • Examining parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
  • Replacing defective engines and sub-assemblies, such as transmissions
  • Testing and overhauling equipment to insure operating efficiency
  • Welding broken parts
  • Identifying parts required for repairs using repair manuals, end item tech support or Internet search
  • Cleaning parts and assembles and disassembles equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
