The
Zip ecosystem, with over 12 million customers and 94,000 merchants, is a rapidly scaling ecommerce platform built in React, C#, .NET Core, Azure, containerized microservices (Docker, Kubernetes), CQRS, with an event-driven architecture and robust messaging frameworks. From the point of scale, our EventStore instance has ~2.5 billion events in 17 projections. If complexity and innovative engineering appeals to you, you’ll certainly appreciate our challenges.
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to be part of our continuously innovative credit-decisioning environment, one that is highly scalable, with the lowest possible latency, possessing the highest reliability, and with the utmost security. Our Decisioning team builds identity capabilities, our decisioning engine, and credit risk modeling platforms; these are used for every transaction on the Zip platform. The goal is to manage credit risk and prevent fraudulent behavior.
In fact, we have very recently collaborated with our Product team to re-imagine how we deliver credit to our customers: Our “Decision Engineering 2.0” platform will help us build and through incremental delivery, we will unlock risk platform tooling that will enable us to be more flexible, methodical, and pragmatic in our risk strategies. Our goal is to engineer a platform that is equal parts customer-centric and merchant-centric – and this will likely include a hybrid solution of build AND buy.
What this means is that you won’t be working on a refactored ecosystem but a totally new high-performing concept.

- Re-architecting and building our decisioning engine and integrating with BPMN workflow tooling (hence, build and buy)
- Develop robust Machine Learning capabilities for decision making
- Developing a new standardized approach and systemized solution for more rapidly bringing in new vendor data (categories include fraud, compliance, credit)
- Develop advanced digital profiles for use in decision making
Requirements
- 6-10+ years of agile software engineering experience in a CI/CD environment (we are C#/.NET Core/Azure/Kubernetes but fundamentals are more important to us)
- Code quality is extremely important to you
- Not really a requirement but you might be an architect at heartExperience with DDD and appreciating the importance of layered testing
- Containerized microservices experience (CQRS and Event Sourcing are massive plusses)
- Experience with relational database design, performance and optimization
- Proactive with a focus on getting things done, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high-quality work within set deadlines
Pay Range: $135,000 to $223,000
The Pay Range for this position: Minimum - Maximum based on the industry benchmark for position, function, level and Zip’s compensation strategies. However, actual base salary will depend on varying circumstances and individualized factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. If hired, employee will be in an ’at-will position’ and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
