Requirements
  • Must be graduate from approved program in professional nursing; BSN required.
  • Masters preferred (MS, MSN, MBA, MHA).
  • Holds a current RN Michigan License or the ability to obtain Michigan license.
  • Certification in Nursing Administration encouraged.
  • Minimum of five years nursing experience with three years progressive level of nursing administrative experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provides consistent leadership for the Emergency Department across two campuses and supports patient focused collaborative care in a shared governance environment.
  • Coordinating, facilitating and integrating the optimal provision of cost-effective service in ED.
  • Providing clinical expertise, customer service, and service recovery techniques.
  • Planning human resource management, financial accountability, quality assessment and improvements, including regulatory compliance.
  • Maintaining 24/7 accountability to the Emergency Department unit.
  • Leading ED, Intensive Care Unit, and Trauma Services; overseeing an operation with over 100,000 ED visits annually.
  • Facilitating staff development through coaching, mentoring, and counseling.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with hospital leaders, staff and physicians.
  • Demonstrating quantitative value-based problem-solving and system thinking.
  • Integrating Shared Governance in both EDs and Critical Care.
  • Demonstrating ability to manage organizational change and continuous quality improvement processes; evidence of creative and innovative approaches to achieving outcomes.
  • Communicating effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives; articulating commitment to the philosophy, values, mission, and vision of MHP.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Emergency Services and/or critical care.
  • Director level experience.
  • Experience working with multiple unions would be a strong plus.
  • Ideal candidate should have worked for a healthcare organization with high volume Emergency Department and Critical Care units.
  • BSN preferred Masters prepared
