Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including experience developing reports and dashboards with one or more business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, IBM Cognos, or Tableau, is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • A customer-oriented approach to problem solving is required.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet required deadlines is required.
  • The ability to contribute individually and as a technical lead on a team managing multiple business environments and to translate business needs into solution requirements is required.
Responsibilities
  • Complete all assigned business intelligence development work.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership for the design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, maintenance, and security of reporting and associated applications supporting University systems and applications.
  • Create and review data audit and quality processes for validating deliverables.
  • Use software to generate metrics and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary administrator, or assist the lead application administrator, for business intelligence application tools, including upgrades, patching, configuration, and directory and security administration.
  • Serve as a systems administrator for infrastructure supporting business intelligence applications, including configuration, troubleshooting, and periodic maintenance.
  • Support strategies for data warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery.
  • Develop SQL queries and modifications to facilitate problem resolution and reporting needs.
  • Lead design sessions to capture report-development requirements and data.
  • Lead development teams with appropriate span of control.
  • Develop and review report specifications and ensure requirements are met across functional areas.
  • Translate and review business requirements into report objects with appropriate security.
  • Analyze team members' reports to ensure they meet user requirements.
  • Develop, review, and enable reports and visualizations supporting University goals.
  • Validate audit and reconciliation processes associated with reporting.
  • Lead development and maintenance of security architecture, security administration, and workflow automation within the application suite.
  • Review and prepare required paperwork and documentation to ensure conformance with departmental and University standards and procedures.
  • Execute unit tests and work with application testers to prepare test plans, test data, and integrated unit testing.
  • Design and deliver executive and function-specific reports.
  • Develop and enable reporting solutions that interact with cloud-based solutions.
  • Write ad hoc queries and reports using reporting and database tools to support research, financial, and executive initiatives.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex information from senior management and end users to develop reports and reporting systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement complex dashboard reports and visualizations for data warehouse and Clarity.
  • Outline strategies for developing and maintaining environments supporting report-writing applications.
  • Coordinate with programmers and analysts to achieve goals and collaborate on solutions.
  • Serve as a mentor and change-management lead when delivering reporting training.
  • Present seminars, courses, and computer-services instruction as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education, medical, or healthcare industries is preferred.
  • Experience with project management methodologies, including Agile, from planning through implementation, is preferred.
  • Five years of Student, HCM, and Finance experience, specifically with reporting, is preferred.
  • Experience in Oracle on Unix database management system environments is preferred.
  • Experience with Epic reporting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with IBM Cognos, SQL, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Tableau is preferred.
  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly is preferred.
  • The ability to translate business needs into solution requirements is preferred.
  • Knowledge of implementing expressions and business logic within an object-oriented environment is preferred.
  • In-depth SQL programming and development knowledge is preferred.
  • The ability to provide on-call support is preferred.
  • Tableau Desktop Associate Level 1 or Level 2 certification is preferred.
  • A Workday Report Writer curriculum certificate is preferred.
  • An Epic Clinical Data Model and/or Epic Revenue Data Model credential may be required within 12 months of hire and is preferred.
