Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • One year of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility is required.
  • Ability to perform the appropriate patient workup using the electronic medical record telehealth platform is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed is required.
  • Ability to travel to satellite eye centers when necessary is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient information and clinical testing in the electronic medical record, including the reason for visit, chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, medications, allergies, pharmacy information, family, social, medical, and ocular history, visual acuity, lensometry, manual refraction, confrontational fields, tangent screen visual fields, basic ocular motility, pupillary evaluation, ocular surface assessment, eye drop administration, intraocular pressure measurements, pachymetry, contact lens insertion and removal, color vision testing, stereopsis testing, sensorimotor examination, automated and manual perimetry, Humphrey visual fields, virtual reality visual fields, and Amsler Grid visual fields.
  • Provide documentation support to providers in patient charts as directed for patient care.
  • Provide patient-centric care.
  • Adhere to University of Miami policies, standards, values, and required training.
  • Comply with regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Follow patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control best practices.
  • Attend educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
  • Maintain accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness in work.
  • Meet daily productivity goals.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.
  • Participate in assigned clinical research and maintain required certifications.
  • Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities.
  • Travel to satellite eye centers when necessary.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Perform organizational duties as assigned.
  • Complete intravitreal injection preparation for patients.
  • Facilitate motility examinations.
  • Support virtual care encounters and examinations.
