Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong organizational and computer-use skills are required, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English, interpret construction-related documentation, and communicate with coworkers.
  • The ability to work independently, make decisions, follow through on assignments, plan and organize work, and use independent judgment and problem-solving skills is required.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams, is required.
  • The ability to apply complex compensation, benefit, and record-keeping criteria when processing payroll is required.
  • The ability to analyze and interpret data for accuracy is required.
  • Detail orientation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be willing to learn, take direction, and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, set up, and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, updates, and deductions.
  • Coordinate and complete all E-Verify requirements in a timely manner.
  • Enter employee information accurately and promptly in JD Edwards.
  • Support payroll time-entry activities arising from project-site needs.
  • Coordinate and complete employment verifications in a timely manner.
  • Support the setup and compliance of payroll garnishments.
  • Assist with weekly payroll processing for multiple entities and employees working in multiple states.
  • Maintain confidential personnel and payroll records.
  • Support departmental projects and data requests as needed.
  • Provide timely and effective follow-up and communication with internal and external customers.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including tax forms and audits.
  • File and organize payroll-related documents and records.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree in Accounting, a formal payroll certificate, or relevant payroll training is preferred.
  • Two to three years of relevant payroll-department experience with similar responsibilities is preferred.
  • Previous union payroll compliance experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous construction-industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience using JD Edwards to process payroll is preferred.
