Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience in bicycle mechanics
  • Demonstrated teaching ability

  • Familiarity with bicycle mechanics, repair, and maintenance, including braking systems, drivetrains, wheel assembly, suspension, electric bikes, retail, and service department operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the college professionally in diverse public-facing settings
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences, including youth, adult learners, industry professionals, and community members
  • Willingness and ability to travel to events regionally and occasionally nationally
  • Exhibits dependability in attendance and punctuality
  • Interacts with students, other staff members, and the public in a positive, professional manner
  • Adheres to and publicly supports the College's policies and procedures, including but not limited to the faculty handbook and catalog
Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in bicycle mechanics courses, including classroom lectures, lab demonstrations, and hands-on skill-building activities
  • Assist with instructional duties in the Bicycle Technician Program, including lab support, student mentoring, and assessment
  • Collaborate with program faculty and staff to develop course materials, outreach curricula, and engagement strategies
  • Deliver hands-on demonstrations, workshops, and mini-lessons in bicycle mechanics at outreach events to promote the program and engage prospective students
  • Represent NWACC and the Bicycle Technician Program at cycling-related events, festivals, races, and community gatherings in a professional and positive manner
  • Attend and provide instructional support at events including, but not limited to, NICA championships, World Cyclocross, Bike Fest, summer camps, and clinics
  • Communicate program offerings, enrollment pathways, and career opportunities to event attendees, prospective students, parents, and industry professionals
  • Build and maintain relationships with cycling organizations, industry partners, and community stakeholders
  • Provide timely reports and feedback on event outcomes, community engagement, and recruitment opportunities
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the college level or in a technical training setting
  • Industry certifications in bicycle mechanics or related technical areas
  • Active involvement in the cycling community, including experience attending or volunteering at cycling events, races, or youth programs
  • Experience with youth cycling programs such as NICA or similar organizations
