The primary focus of the position is to support the contracting and operational efficiency of Enterprise Pharmacy Services by coordinating purchasing and procurement of Pharmaceuticals and to avoid potential drug shortages. This position will also act as a liaison between the Enterprise Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Wholesaler and Group Purchasing Organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Must possess current license to practice pharmacy in at least ONE of the following states that WVUHS facilities operate in:
WV: Pharmacist license through the West Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
PA: Pharmacist license through the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
MD: Pharmacist license through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy.
OH: Pharmacist license through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
Remote Workers Only: Must hold current Pharmacist license issued by state of residence.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have (2) year experience in hospital, retail or specialty pharmacy as either a resident or staff member.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Two (2) years clinical experience.
2. Hospital pharmacy clinical and/or leadership experience.
3. Two (2) years’ experience performing contracting or procurement functions and troubleshooting problems.

1. Present sourcing and optimization strategies to Pharmacy leadership to proactively minimize drug shortages.
2. Interact regularly with the department management team and clinical specialists to supply drug usage information, identify irregularities in spending, and provide recommendations for alternative products.
3. Monitor ordering processes by integrating most current pricing from wholesaler, Analyze invoices, shipping, and inventory processes.
4. Identify and communicate contracting compliance concerns along with recommendations for resolution.
5. Maintains professional competence by attending and presenting at conferences, continuing education programs, reading current professional literature and publishing clinical or practice-related experience or research.
6. Participates in administrative, quality assurance, performance improvement, and clinical research activities within the department.
7. Coordinate with GPO and medication Wholesaler to ensure contract compliance, identify savings opportunities, and make recommendations for implementing any necessary changes.
8. Coordinate standardization efforts regarding contracting & procurement at the Enterprise level.
9. Monitor and provide drug shortage trends to ensure proper product supplies are available in the Pharmacy Warehouse.
10. Works with the Patient Assistance team to ensure utilization of all available indigent care programs for inpatient and outpatient administration of medications. Coordinate with the Drug Utilization Team to evaluate practice change opportunities that would allow inpatient medication administration to be switched to outpatient medication administration.
11. Drive adoption of Supply Chain Management technologies to enhance procurement performance in categorization, analytics, and contracting to maximize program compliance and savings.
12. Works with Enterprise management in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
13. Acts as the liaison between Enterprise Pharmacy, Wholesaler and GPO. Assists with questions from other sites to include Specialty and 340b.
14. Provides onboarding and training of new hires. Implement process improvement to maximize team efficiency. Encourage team collaboration.
15. Works with department management in the development and implementation of departmental goals, strategies and objectives for cost reduction, supplier consolidation and implementing process efficiency improvements.
16. Coordinates with GPO and Wholesaler to assist with contract compliance and identify savings opportunities.
17. Participates in the orientation and education of pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, and/or new department employees.
18. Participates in planning and implementing changes in the Business operations and pharmacy warehouse areas and improves productivity through participation in staff meetings and assigned projects.
