Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, although relevant experience may offset this requirement.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to meet the company's Motor Vehicle Review requirements.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain the state-required commercial applicator certification.
  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain an agricultural commercial driver's license.
  • The employee must be able to read, count, write, and use technology to complete documentation, understand shipping and applicator orders and tickets, and interpret product labels, safety data sheets, warning signs, and emergency procedures.
  • The employee must be familiar with crop chemicals, nutrients, farming practices, and crop characteristics.
  • The employee must be able to use technology to locate application sites accurately and read field maps.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance, and complete other physical duties associated with an agricultural location.
  • The employee must be able to walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel, and grasp regularly.
  • Required overtime must be worked as seasonal demands require.
Responsibilities
  • Apply dry fertilizer products and lime to customers' crops safely and efficiently.
  • Use supplied information and application-equipment technology to apply the correct products at the correct rates to the correct fields and customers.
  • Assist with mixing, loading, unloading, and transporting crop-protection and fertilizer products.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, safety rules, Environmental Health and Safety policies, Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies, and Department of Transportation policies and procedures when handling and applying products.
  • Inspect equipment daily before field applications and after applications.
  • Maintain safety equipment in optimum condition in the applicator equipment and immediate work area.
  • Maintain applicator and equipment logs and keep them up to date.
  • Perform required equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Rinse and wash down equipment in the field and at the location in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist team members with physical duties required to operate an agricultural location.
  • Assist with operational scouting, product transportation, and other customer services.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through product application and provide customers and the location manager with feedback about field conditions observed during application.
  • Operate and maintain company equipment used for product applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment maintenance are preferred.
  • The employee should be able to communicate effectively with team members and customers and represent the company professionally and courteously.
  • The employee should be willing to adapt to changing application technologies and seasonal changes in workload responsibilities.
  • The employee should work cooperatively with team members to support agricultural operations.
