Requirements
  • At least 10 years of fleet, equipment, or operations leadership experience.
  • Experience managing large-scale fleets valued at more than $10 million.
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities, including total cost of ownership modeling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Environmental Protection Agency compliance.
  • Experience in electrical contracting, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction.
  • Proven leadership of distributed teams.
  • Strategic planning and execution, financial acumen, leadership and talent development, process improvement, vendor negotiation, technical equipment knowledge, digital and artificial intelligence-driven optimization, operational excellence, and compliance management.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a long-term fleet strategy supporting utility, renewable energy, and commercial and industrial business lines.
  • Create annual and multi-year fleet capital plans that balance operational needs, financing strategy, and return on investment.
  • Standardize fleet specifications to optimize reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of more than 750 fleet assets, including vehicles, aerial lifts, digger derricks, trenchers, generators, cable pullers, tooling, and heavy equipment.
  • Lead procurement, leasing, remarketing, and disposal to maximize asset value.
  • Implement fleet replacement policies and lifecycle schedules.
  • Manage annual fleet capital expenditure and operating expenditure budgets.
  • Track and optimize fleet utilization, cost recovery, total cost of ownership, and charge-out rates.
  • Negotiate national agreements with vendors, original equipment manufacturers, and rental partners.
  • Use analytics to drive financial efficiency and improve operational predictability.
  • Lead adoption of fleet technology, including telematics, global positioning systems, Internet of Things sensors, remote diagnostics, automated scheduling, and artificial intelligence-driven forecasting models.
  • Deploy predictive maintenance platforms using machine learning and real-time asset data.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence for spend analytics, vendor negotiations, and cost-saving insights.
  • Integrate fleet systems with enterprise resource planning, safety platforms, and financial systems.
  • Deploy digital inspection tools, mobile applications, and automated reporting workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and state regulations.
  • Develop policies and training to improve operator competency and reduce equipment-related incidents.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, and insurance.
  • Partner with Operations, Project Management, Safety, Finance, and Supply Chain.
  • Forecast fleet requirements for specialty utility and renewable energy projects.
  • Provide executive dashboards and decision-support analytics.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with fleet management software, telematics, and artificial intelligence systems is preferred.
