BCBSRI seeks partners for 15th annual Blue across Rhode Island. Milestone event for mobilizing volunteers to strengthen communities statewide is Sept. 18, with an application deadline of April 24. PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is accepting applications from community-based organizations to host teams of 30+ employee volunteers during Blue across Rhode Island, the company's annual day of service on Friday, Sept. 18. One of the largest events of its kind in the state, Blue across Rhode Island will mark its 15th anniversary in 2026. While BCBSRI employees volunteer year-round, Blue across Rhode Island brings associates together for a full workday of organized service projects statewide. Each year, more than 500 employees volunteer in teams on projects developed in partnership with selected community partners. "Fifteen years of Blue across Rhode Island represents thousands of hours of volunteer service and hundreds of thousands of lives touched across our state," said Carolyn Belisle, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility. "We look forward to another year of rolling up our sleeves alongside the incredible organizations doing this vital work every day." Details and application instructions for Blue across Rhode Island are available online. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Friday, April 24. For more information, contact [email protected]. Since the launch of Blue across Rhode Island in 2012, BCBSRI employees have given 43,000 volunteer hours at such projects as building housing, painting community spaces, sprucing up landscaping, and packing food items for hunger programs. These projects have positively impacted more than 238,000 Rhode Islanders. Since its founding, BCBSRI has prioritized relationships with community organizations through philanthropy, partnership, and volunteer service. These efforts, including Blue across Rhode Island, have been enhanced for the past 25 years through a focused and coordinated BCBSRI program - BlueAngel Community Investment.

BCBSRI earns top score of 100 for LGBTQ+ workplace equality

BCBSRI earns top score of 100 for LGBTQ+ workplace equality. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Feb. 4, 2026) - Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has received a top score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation's 2026 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation's foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. BCBSRI joins 534 U.S. businesses to be honored with the Equality 100 Award and recognized as Leaders in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion. "We're proud that we have once again attained a top score on the Corporate Equality Index, reflecting our deep commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion. The Index helps us measure our progress and provides a map for us to continue improving benefits, education, policies, and practices across the company to better support our LGBTQ+ associates," said Carolyn Belisle, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at BCBSRI. The following are among BCBSRI's many efforts to support LGBTQ+ individuals: * Blue pRIde Employee Business Resource Group aims to foster a safe, supportive workplace for LGBTQ+ employees and allies. * Philanthropic investment and volunteer support with RI-based nonprofits that support the LGBTQ+ community. * Collaboration with Fenway Institute's National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center to create employee training and resources for providing inclusive service. * Comprehensive and affirming LGBTQ+ inclusive employee benefits to ensure equitable access and support for all employees and their families * Safe Zone program to guides members to care settings that have earned BCBSRI certification by meeting LGBTQ+ standards and best practices designed to provide an affirming and welcoming experience. "For nearly a quarter of a century, the Corporate Equality Index has put a marker down for businesses committed to inclusion and transparency for all workers. Now, more than ever, we celebrate them." said Kelley Robinson, President of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. "No matter the environment, companies that communicate clearly and lead with transparency earn trust, retain talent, and strengthen their business. We are always here to collaborate with employers who want to foster a workplace where team members can bring their best selves to the office." The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars: * Non-discrimination policies across business entities * Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families * Supporting an inclusive culture * Outreach and engagement
