Research Faculty Assistant Professor - Medical Oncology

Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology who provides scientific direction for correlative research studies in oncology; participates in the development of original research proposals as principal investigator; submits and administers grants; obtains portion of salary and research support derived from grant funding; tracks grant submissions to national and local agencies to ensure proper review procedures and prepares resubmissions, as necessary; manages small research lab; supervises research personnel; plans/performs funded research; prepares and submits manuscripts for publication; tracks manuscripts through all stages of review process to ensure timely publications; revises manuscripts following review, proofreads galleys for accuracy for publications, and ensures return to editorial staff or journal for timely publication, composes and presents research at conferences; directs research personnel.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

PhD or MD/PhD required; Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in oncology required; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required.Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ​

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.​

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.​
