Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or related science from an accredited college or university.
  • Laboratory training including completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, NAACLS, or another organization recognized by HHS, or at least three months of documented training in each specialty in which the employee has performed high-complexity testing.
  • Working knowledge of College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations and Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) procedure formats applicable to an accredited clinical laboratory.
  • Must meet minimum CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing personnel.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English for training, responding to inquiries, and reporting purposes.
Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned testing.
  • Perform required quality-control testing.
  • Perform proficiency testing when assigned.
  • Review patient reports as testing occurs and perform repeat analysis when required.
  • Monitor supply inventories to ensure they are adequate for the workload.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance as required.
  • Review and assist in updating standard operating procedures.
  • Report concerns to laboratory management regarding testing status as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Beckman Coulter, Abbott, and Siemens instrumentation.
  • Major clinical laboratory instrument familiarity with Beckman Coulter, Abbott, and Siemens.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent technical certification.
  • Five years of experience in a licensed clinical laboratory may substitute for ASCP registration to comply with federal and state laboratory personnel qualification regulations.
  • Strong technical background and ability to operate clinical laboratory equipment for automated and manual procedures.
