Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in broking or underwriting commercial lines clients.
  • Thorough knowledge of specialty lines markets and coverage.
  • Experience with cyber risk, technology E&O and professional lines of coverage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage middle market property and casualty accounts; effectively market to carriers and customers; develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers and prospects;
  • Insurance license for designated insurance line required within 6 months of hire, considering state law restrictions.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required, with emphasis on proficiency in PowerPoint.
  • P&C License preferred
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities
  • Identifies and advises insurance buyers and / or C-Suite clients of risks inherent in their business and develop a strategy which best places client’s business/risk/exposures in the marketplace.
  • In concert with Producer / Account Executive, presents marketing results to insurance buyers, board of directors and/or attends and provides informational presentations at client’s annual board meetings, as needed.
  • Assists Producers or Account Managers with pre-underwriting information gathering, coverage analysis and proposal presentations if needed.
  • Assists in consolidation strategy to direct carriers and/or preferred wholesalers.
  • Markets specialty lines for designated existing accounts and prospects.
  • Works effectively and efficiently with other team members in the specialty lines area.
  • Reviews quotations and indications from markets and prepares client proposals based on client’s needs, rates and coverages.
  • Contributes to the new business development and identifies cross-sell opportunities. Assist Producers in responding to RFPs or presenting to prospects in areas of competency/specialization.
  • Executes a quality control process for policies and quotations delivered assuring coverage, condition, rating and pricing accuracy.
  • Supports the maintenance of new business and renewal control logs, which assist the department head in identifying trends.
  • Keep informed of changes and trends within the industry for the purpose of anticipating and responding to insurance coverage evolution in the Specialty lines area.
  • Ensures that HUB Way Marketing Workflows are captured through utilization of agency management system in accordance with HUB policies and procedures.
  • Attends industry-specific conferences/forums as needed/requested, i.e., PLUS, etc.
  • Negotiates coverage terms, structure, and pricing with underwriters through direct carrier relationships whenever possible and access preferred wholesale when necessary.
  • Underwrites commercial accounts within insurance company delegated underwriting authority, guidelines and procedures.
  • Effectively builds relationships with insurance company underwriters through a pattern of professional risk submissions, company visitations and hard, but fair, negotiations.
  • Maintains state of the art knowledge of market underwriting appetite, line of business trends, insurance company changes, rating technique and coverage development.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of our company utilization strategies by appropriate risk submissions.
