Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in power generation service and industrial mechanical-electrical troubleshooting and repairs is required.
  • The candidate must be computer literate.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret schematics.
  • The candidate must have a good driving record.
  • The candidate must have a good disciplinary record, with no disciplines issued within the prior 12 months.
  • The candidate must have mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities, including strong alternating-current and direct-current power skills.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently or in teams, exercise common sense and good judgment, learn, and foster a safe working environment.
  • The candidate must value safety and have good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work flexibly on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The candidate must be able to stand and walk frequently, push and pull up to 100 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach or work overhead, and climb.
  • The candidate must be able to use wrenches, tools, and diagnostic equipment, including with one or both hands.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on backup power generation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair controls, switchgear, batteries, battery chargers, heaters, motors, pumps, electrical contactors, relays, generator components, and related controls.
  • Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
  • Manage on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and testing tasks.
  • Diagnose errors and technical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Produce timely and detailed service and expense reports.
  • Operate a vehicle safely and use field automated systems.
  • Understand customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Build positive relationships with customers.
  • Maintain organized files and make them accessible to people inside and outside the department.
  • Provide customer service and develop a loyal customer base.
