Requirements
  • BSN is required.
  • BSNs must enroll in a Grand Canyon University MSN Leadership or MSN Education program immediately upon hire, paid for by Grand Canyon University, OR
  • BSN with proof of at least 9 credits/3 classes in any graduate program OR approved national certification related to the content area being taught (please specify graduate credits or national certification on resume).
  • Experience outside of the traditional hospital setting required (clinics, Veterans health, home health, public health nursing).
  • Five years of recent registered nurse clinical experience with three years of recent direct Public Health/Population Health patient care nursing experience with a BSN.
  • BSN applicants must have documented completion of the Clinical Faculty Academy through the Missouri Hospital Association at the time of application (please specify on resume).
  • An active, current, unencumbered, and multi-state (compact) registered nurse license.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and competency testing.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Responsibilities
  • Reinforce didactic content, teaching the knowledge and skills needed for pre-licensure nursing.
  • Collaborate with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical objectives.
  • Participate in grading written and clinical performance check-offs.
  • Remain current with new trends and development in the specific field of nursing practice.
  • Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation.
  • Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession as well as the pillars of the University.
  • Travel to GCU student sites, directly observing student performance.
  • Participate in and/or support of the university program in all areas including an evident congruence with the philosophy and direction of the institution, and service to the community.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
Desired Qualifications
  • MSN preferred and 2 years recent direct Public Health/Population Health patient care nursing experience.
  • CFA NOT required for anyone with a conferred Master of Science in any field.
