Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of direct commercial and industrial sales experience within the retail energy industry.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or an equivalent field.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience in commercial and industrial business development and customer sales growth.
  • A strong history of closing complex and structured transactions with large energy consumers.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce large commercial and industrial sales results.
  • A positive reputation in energy markets that attracts credibility, respect, and deal flow.
  • A strong track record of innovation, creativity, and success in managing or closing customer business.
  • Experience addressing new sources of load growth in Texas and other competitive markets.
  • A proven track record in direct sales and execution, identifying and seizing market opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams to align business strategies and ensure transaction success.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Drive profitable sales growth of the Direct Sales commercial and industrial portfolio.
  • Create and implement strategic plans for the direct sales approach and capture key customers within the market.
  • Prospect and acquire new commercial and industrial customers within the ERCOT and PJM regions through networking, social media, and other means to build a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain commercial and competitive intelligence.
  • Establish strong direct and indirect relationships to acquire and retain a book of business while meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Coordinate internal processes and resources, collaborate with Supply for competitive feedback, and deliver expected results.
  • Use market knowledge and competitor analysis to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators for Direct Sales.
  • Assess customer needs and propose offerings to meet or exceed those needs.
  • Analyze supply proposals to ensure an apples-to-apples comparison by understanding regional markets, competitors, energy components, and product offerings.
  • Collaborate with Key Account team members on transactions involving key customers to improve the likelihood of success.
  • Build rapport and trusted relationships across the energy industry to drive strategic commercial and industrial sales initiatives.
  • Lead counterparty negotiations and keep external and internal conversations aligned and moving forward.
  • Lead negotiations with customers and partners, leveraging commercial acumen to secure and close deals while nurturing and managing key stakeholder relationships.
  • Present, negotiate, and structure complex commodity transactions.
  • Use knowledge of energy offerings and deregulated markets to identify unique selling propositions.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities, with a focus on digital infrastructure and data centers.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions efforts, primarily involving energy storage projects and platform acquisitions.
