Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical hardware.
  • Deep expertise in machine design, mechanisms, structural and stress analysis, solid mechanics, materials, and product development.
  • Strong proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), including ASME Y14.5, datum schemes, tolerance stack analysis, and production-ready drawings.
  • Proficiency with 3D computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of machining, sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, and assembly methods, including how design choices affect cost and yield.
  • Experience driving part quality and cost reduction with suppliers, including first-article inspection, supplier development, root-cause and corrective action, and tolerance, material, and process trade-offs.
  • Ability to interface with electrical, controls, and embedded systems while integrating motors, sensors, and electronics into mechanical systems.
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Ability to interpret test data and make engineering decisions through quantitative analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
  • Own the mechanical design and architecture of robotic subsystems, including structures, mechanisms, frames, housings, and precision assemblies, from concept through production deployment.
  • Own frame design, new warehouse layout design, and automation equipment integration.
  • Produce production-grade engineering drawings with GD&T and ASME Y14.5, including datum schemes, functional tolerancing, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies and drive system-level mechanical design decisions.
  • Perform engineering calculations, hand calculations, structural and stress analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, serviceability, and cost.
  • Select and integrate bearings, gears, transmissions, fasteners, motors, gearboxes, and sensors.
  • Partner with controls, software, electrical, embedded, perception, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated robotic systems.
  • Lead prototype builds, debugging, root-cause investigations, and field performance improvements.
  • Establish and execute validation plans, reliability testing, and qualification procedures.
  • Support sourcing and supplier selection, supplier development, second-sourcing, and resolution of component and manufacturability issues.
  • Define inspection and measurement requirements, lead first-article inspection, and drive root-cause and corrective action on component nonconformances with suppliers and the quality team.
  • Drive cost reduction through tolerancing, material and process choices, value engineering, and design-to-cost.
  • Support the transition from prototype to production through documentation, manufacturing support, and quality improvements.
  • Deliver mechanical subsystems that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Improve system throughput, uptime, and operational efficiency.
  • Accelerate product development through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Drive engineering excellence across design, analysis, testing, and deployment.
  • Contribute to the robotics platform strategy and innovation roadmap.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with industrial robotics, warehouse automation, or autonomous systems.
  • Experience with FEA, dynamic simulations, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Familiarity with model-based definition (MBD).
  • Experience scaling products from prototype to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with value analysis, value engineering, design-to-cost, or supplier-quality programs.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering and field-deployed hardware.
  • Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.

Nimble Robotics uses AI to optimize eCommerce logistics, coordinating fulfillment, inventory planning, and delivery speed with robotic systems that handle bin-sized items; larger items are handled manually. It offers a pay-as-you-go model with no upfront capital, plus pilot programs and plug-and-play integrations with Shopify, Netsuite, and Skubana. Its edge comes from combining AI-driven optimization, robotic fulfillment, flexible pilots, and seamless platform integrations to speed deliveries and improve order accuracy and customer satisfaction. The goal is to help eCommerce brands—from startups to Fortune 500s—scale fulfillment efficiently without upfront investment while achieving faster deliveries.

What believers are saying

  • Nimble’s August 7, 2026 website claims over 90 million daily searches across enterprise products.
  • The New Jersey fulfillment center launched in 2024 expands East Coast capacity for 2026 customers.
  • A $106 million Series C at $1 billion valuation funds robot manufacturing and deployments.

What critics are saying

  • Q2 2026 produced no verified new customer, funding, or operational expansion announcement.
  • Nimble’s January 26, 2026 trademark appeal suggests brand-defense work, not market momentum.
  • If autonomous nodes miss scale targets, FedEx can shift volume to Berkshire Grey.

What makes Nimble Robotics unique

  • August 7, 2026 site data shows Nimble runs autonomous fulfillment, not robot sales.
  • Nimble’s general-purpose warehouse superhumanoid handles storage, picking, packing, sorting, and kitting.
  • FedEx backed Nimble in September 2024 and now scales FedEx Fulfillment with it.
