Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting, problem-solving, client relations, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, context and interrelationships, and proficiency in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Availability to respond to critical network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity incidents outside normal business hours.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.
  • Ability to frequently move about campus facilities, traverse stairs, navigate multiple floors, travel between buildings, and bend and crouch to inspect, maintain, install, or repair equipment.
  • Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, up to 15 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor enterprise network performance and respond to complex network incidents and service disruptions.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, track, and resolve enterprise network issues involving wired, wireless, and telecommunications systems.
  • Provide Tier II support and assist with Tier III escalation activities.
  • Maintain network topology diagrams, documentation, inventories, and technical standards.
  • Assist with configuring, deploying, and maintaining switches, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, and network appliances.
  • Identify unauthorized devices and security concerns within the network environment and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Support infrastructure projects involving network expansion, modernization, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Assist with vulnerability management activities, including scanning, remediation tracking, patch verification, and reporting.
  • Monitor security alerts, logs, and events from cybersecurity tools and systems.
  • Assist with security incident response, investigation, containment, recovery, and documentation.
  • Support identity and access management processes, including account provisioning, access reviews, multifactor authentication, and privileged access controls.
  • Collaborate with Texas A&M University System Cybersecurity Shared Services to implement security controls, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Assist with compliance initiatives related to Texas A&M System standards, State of Texas requirements, cybersecurity audits, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in security awareness and cybersecurity education efforts.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and availability to ensure reliable operation of enterprise technology services.
  • Assist with disaster recovery, backup validation, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation for infrastructure systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Work with campus departments to identify technology requirements and recommend infrastructure and security solutions.
  • Assist project leaders with planning, implementation, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Participate in technology evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and integration efforts.
  • Provide technical consultation and support to faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and support project initiatives.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing, cybersecurity incident response, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft, Palo Alto, VMware, Cisco, Entra ID, Ruckus, or Intune technologies.
  • Certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto, or ITIL.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including routing, switching, wireless communications, firewalls, and network security.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including vulnerability management, incident response, security monitoring, risk management, and access control.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including servers, virtualization, cloud platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and endpoint management.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, IT service management practices, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
