Responsibilities
  • Responsible for tribal consultation under the National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other federal regulations
  • Correspondence with Tribal Nations regarding construction projects and maintenance activities
  • Coordination of meetings and site visits
  • Development of agreement documents and implementation of plans of action regarding effects on places of traditional religious and cultural importance to Tribal Nations
  • Facilitates positive relationships with Tribal Nations
  • Maintaining contact information for Tribal Nations
  • Maintaining the ODOT database of known areas of tribal interest within Oklahoma
  • Reviewing projects based on tribal interest data
  • Coordinating consultation with multiple Tribal Nations on numerous projects simultaneously
  • Responding rapidly to inquiries and managing information effectively

  • Experience working in state government
  • Ability to manage consultation on a large number of projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of historic preservation and tribal consultation regulations
  • Knowledge of federal Indian policy and law
  • Knowledge of archaeological field methodology and reporting standards
  • Cultural sensitivity and political acumen
