Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
  • BSN within 8 years policy applies to Bronson South Haven and Bronson Lakeview Hospital (requirement to obtain)
  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
  • Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH
Responsibilities
  • Manage the care delivery for patients throughout the length of stay using the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation
  • Coordinate the care provided by other professionals
  • Delegate selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants
  • Provide selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required
  • Document and communicate during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs
  • Demonstrate competencies specific to the population served
  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patients’ health or the situation; Assess the patient’s physical and developmental needs; Analyze assessment data to identify appropriate patient needs; Document nursing history and age appropriate physical/emotional needs/strengths; Review vital signs; Identify patient problems; Document expected outcomes and plan of care; Coordinate discharge planning; Develop a plan with interventions; Implement prescribed medications and treatments; Administer medications and treatments; Initiate patient education; Manage and evaluate the care plan; Evaluate progress toward attainment of expected outcomes; Document patient response; Participate in quality improvement activities; Maintain professional records; Provide age appropriate care in culturally sensitive manner; Collaborate with patient, family, and others; Integrate ethical provisions in practice; Integrate research into practice; Consider safety, effectiveness, cost in planning and delivery of nursing services; Provide leadership in professional practice; Attend unit staff meetings; Interact with and contribute to professional development of peers; Scrub RN responsibilities per listed items
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification; Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (through PQF or NCC) desired within applicable timeframes; On-call requirements may be considered; Swing bed training or knowledge of swing bed documentation; Prior experience as Scrub RN in multiple services; Willingness to cover shifts at different facilities if needed
