Engineering Intern

We are currently seeking to add a Fall Civil Engineering Intern to our dynamic team in our Vancouver, Washington office.

Apex is an award-winning consulting and engineering firm with capabilities in water, environmental, ESG, health and safety, construction management, transportation, compliance and assurance, and infrastructure. We work in all 50 states and bring together a diverse team of scientists, geologists, engineers, technicians, and information management specialists. In this role, you’ll support our Pacific Northwest practice, which is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for infrastructure and site development.

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and other Apex team members on real-world projects. You’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in project design, drafting, data analysis, technical writing, and field inspections, while learning how a professional civil engineering firm operates day-to-day. This internship is designed to help you build your technical skills, expand your industry knowledge, and contribute in a meaningful way to projects that make a real difference in our communities.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with civil engineering design tasks associated with municipal public works projects and private development projects such as the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, reports, and specifications
• Self-manage project tasks
• Actively communicate with project managers and team members
• Collaborate with senior engineers on project design and analysis.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas and solutions
• Prepare plans using AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Microsoft InRoads

Qualifications:

• Current status as an active student in an engineering-related field, or a completed Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Curious, eager to learn, and takes initiative
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to legally work in the US
• Valid driver’s license

Additional details: 

• This is a fall internship with negotiable dates and duration, and a possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
• Hourly rate of $23.00-$25.00
