The Data Science & Machine Learning team is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Performance Models & Machine Learning Systems team. The Data Science & Machine Learning team are modeling experts who solve challenges with durable data science solutions. We are a group of curious Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers who integrate data science models into the product and the company to unlock value for Squarespace and its customers.

Our team delivers Performance Models that protect topline revenue and minimize risks and losses arising from fraud and abuse. In addition to this main focus, you will also work on projects that aim to enhance customer acquisition, conversion, and the product experience.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to our Performance Models & Machine Learning Systems Manager, Data Science & Machine Learning.

You’ll Get To…

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Engineers, and Product Managers to identify opportunities and provide Data Science solutions
• Prototype different approaches to identify the best data solutions for business problems
• Design, deploy, and maintain production machine learning models in internal and  24/7 customer-facing applications; for example detecting account takeover attempts, and predicting customer intent
• Monitor and analyze the evolving tactics used by bad actors to stay ahead of emerging threats
• Improve model performance through iterative testing, tuning, and feature engineering
• Research advancements in machine learning and data science to evaluate new techniques and technologies for potential application

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of experience working in a Data Science or similar role, or PhD with quantitative focus
• Strong competency with Python and SQL
• Experience developing statistical or ML models with a demonstrable business impact; experience in the anti-fraud space
• Experience communicating data science solutions to technical and non-technical audiences

Cash Compensation Range: $110,500 - $178,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to receive an incentive award as part of their total compensation.
