Six blue chips yield $54,000 annually on $920,000 without risky high-yield traps

A $920,000 portfolio of six blue-chip dividend stocks can generate approximately $54,000 in annual income whilst avoiding high-yield traps that erode capital over time, according to a recent analysis. The portfolio comprises five Dividend Kings or Aristocrats alongside one real estate investment trust. Johnson & Johnson yields roughly 2.3% after raising its dividend for the 64th consecutive year. Procter & Gamble offers about 3% after its 70th straight annual increase. Coca-Cola yields 2.5%, McDonald's approximately 2.6%, and PepsiCo close to 3.8% following its recent 4% hike. Realty Income provides the highest yield at 5.2%, having paid 670 consecutive monthly dividends whilst maintaining 99% portfolio occupancy. The strategy prioritises dividend growth over immediate high yields, which often signal unsustainable payouts from leveraged funds or mortgage REITs facing distribution cuts.

Johnson & Johnson hits record $25.3B quarterly sales, targets $100B annual revenue

Johnson & Johnson shares have surged more than 25% in 2026, outperforming the S&P 500 following strong quarterly results. The healthcare giant reported record quarterly sales of $25.3 billion, marking 6.6% year-over-year growth. The company raised its fiscal year guidance for both sales and adjusted earnings per share. JNJ is now on track to exceed $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time in its history in 2026. As a Dividend Aristocrat, Johnson & Johnson maintains a longstanding commitment to consistent dividend payments and increases, providing shareholders with a reliable income stream alongside capital appreciation.

J&J, Equinix, SBAC and one other stock could generate $2,304 annual passive income from $100K investment

Johnson & Johnson leads a portfolio of four dividend-growth stocks that together generate $2,304 in annual passive income from a $100,000 investment split equally. The group delivers a 2.30% blended yield. SBA Communications tops the quartet with a 2.58% yield. Johnson & Johnson brings a 64-year dividend streak and AAA credit rating, making it a core income holding. Equinix, which converted to a REIT in 2015, runs the world's largest neutral interconnection footprint. The company generated $2.63 billion in Q2 revenue and has grown its quarterly payout from $2.66 in 2020 to $5.16 today. Institutions own 99.6% of the float. All four stocks trade on major exchanges with tight spreads, offering liquidity advantages over alternatives like rental real estate or mortgage REITs.

JNJ returns $85B to shareholders but stock still lags S&P 500 by 13%

Johnson & Johnson returned $85 billion to shareholders over the past five years through $60 billion in dividends and $25 billion in share buybacks, equivalent to 13.8% of its current market capitalisation. The healthcare giant generated $97.93 billion in revenue over the last twelve months with a 27% operating margin. Despite this substantial cash return, JNJ shareholders saw a total return of 70% over five years, underperforming the S&P 500's 83% return. The company's Innovative Medicine division showed strong performance, with double-digit growth excluding STELARA and successful launches like ICOTYDE. However, the MedTech segment struggled, particularly in cardiovascular, where the Abiomed heart pump business saw sales decline 2%. The performance gap between divisions raises questions about whether returning cash signals disciplined capital allocation or a shortage of high-return growth opportunities.

J&J beats estimates with $25.3B revenue, raises guidance to $101.1B for the year

Johnson & Johnson reported strong Q2 2026 results with sales rising nearly 7% to $25.31 billion, beating estimates of $25.05 billion. Adjusted earnings per share reached $2.90, surpassing the expected $2.85. The company raised its full-year guidance and remains on track to exceed $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time in its 140-year history. Its pharmaceutical division generated $16.38 billion in quarterly sales. Despite a 55% drop in Stelara revenue to $740 million due to patent loss, newer drugs compensated for the decline. Tremfya sales surged 72.5% to $2 billion, well above the $1.74 billion estimate. Meanwhile, Danaher delivered encouraging Q2 results driven by its Life Sciences business, with bioprocessing orders growing mid-teens despite timing-related revenue fluctuations.
