Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a master's program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a comparable field.
  • Applicants should have initial knowledge of hydraulics, drive technology, and vehicle systems.
  • Programming knowledge, for example in Python or MATLAB, is advantageous.
  • Applicants must be able to analyze complex matters systematically and independently develop solutions.
  • On-site presence is required.
  • Applicants must be fluent in German and English.
  • Enrollment at a university is required for the thesis.
  • Applicants must provide a résumé, current transcript, examination regulations, and, if applicable, valid work and residence authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Investigate how efficient and inefficient operator patterns can be distinguished and identified from existing CAN bus signals on mobile work machines.
  • Analyze energy and loss mechanisms in mobile work machines and identify loss sources influenced by the operator.
  • Process and prepare real internal machine data streams.
  • Develop conceptual criteria for performance evaluation and for separating environmental processes from operator processes.
  • Develop algorithms, including rule-based or machine-learning approaches, to identify work cycles and causes of energy losses.
  • Evaluate the practical suitability of the methods and derive recommendations for future driver-assistance systems or feedback functions.
