Tempo provides strategic portfolio management tools that integrate with Jira to help teams plan, track, and manage work across software, IT, and product portfolios. Its suite includes Timesheets by Tempo for time tracking, Strategic Roadmaps for product roadmapping, and Structure for Jira for large-scale project management, plus capacity planning and financial management connected to Jira. It differentiates itself with deep Jira integration and a broad range of capabilities from strategic planning to financial oversight, expanded through acquisitions like ALM Works and Roadmunk. The goal is to translate strategy into executable work, improve visibility across projects and portfolios, optimize resource use and budgets, and support AI-adaptive planning for better decision-making.

Tempo Software has launched Workforce Intelligence, an Atlassian Marketplace app that measures the ROI of both human and AI productivity. The tool provides engineering leaders with work item-level visibility of AI activity across their organisation. Workforce Intelligence connects AI usage, human effort, and costs directly to Jira work items, stories, and epics. It combines inference API telemetry with blended human and AI effort data, enabling leaders to verify which AI tools are being used and their impact on productivity relative to cost. The app offers a unified view of AI adoption, cycle-time comparisons between AI-assisted and non-AI-assisted work, and portfolio-wide insights. It automatically connects AI activity to work items without requiring engineers to change their workflows. Tempo Software specialises in Intelligent Portfolio Orchestration and serves over 30,000 customers.
Tempo launches Workforce Intelligence to tie AI spend to Jira work items. Tempo Software Inc. today introduced Workforce Intelligence, an Atlassian Marketplace app that connects artificial intelligence usage and its cost to the individual Jira issues the work was done on. The company sells planning and portfolio software into the Atlassian Corp. ecosystem, and the app is the newest piece of what Tempo calls Intelligent Portfolio Orchestration. Workforce Intelligence attaches AI activity and human effort to the specific Jira work item it supported, then rolls those records up to the larger bodies of work they belong to. Cost and performance figures sit on the same record. Chief Executive Vic Chynoweth said most organizations can say what they spend on AI but "can't tie those investments to what was delivered." Tempo has tracked human-delivered work in Jira since 2007, he said, and agentic capacity now needs the same treatment. Leaders do not want another dashboard confirming AI is being used, according to Chynoweth, but a record of what it produced. Inference application programming interface telemetry lands in the same work record as blended human and AI effort. A cost rollup goes on top of that. Engineering managers get cycle-time comparisons between AI-assisted work and everything else. They also get a view of AI spending, active users and cost across strategic initiatives. Attribution runs natively inside Jira, so engineers do not have to log anything differently. "Observability can tell you an agent ran cleanly. It can't tell you whose work it was, or what it cost against a funded issue," said Chief Technology Officer Shams Chauthani. "Workforce Intelligence correlates the session to the commit directly, so the answer is verifiable." The pitch comes as budget scrutiny catches up with AI spending. Forrester Research Inc. said in October that fewer than one-third of decision-makers can tie the value of AI to their organization's financial growth. The firm expects enterprises to defer a quarter of planned AI spending to 2027. Attribution data is "a necessary foundation," said Chris Marsh, research director at 451 Research by S&P Global. On its own it settles nothing. Marsh said the organizations getting real value from AI are the ones that trained their people and set clear rules for using the tools. Adoption also has to be driven from the top, he said. Tempo counts more than 30,000 customers, among them Cisco Systems Inc., Airbus SE and Oracle Corp. Private equity firm Diversis Capital took majority ownership in 2018 and bought out minority holder Origo hf in 2022. Roughly 350 solution partners work with the company. Tempo Software has expanded its AI offerings in the Atlassian Marketplace with four new Rovo agents and the Tempo Maestro Program. The announcement follows Team '26 and aims to help organisations streamline execution and reduce operational complexity. The new Rovo agents include a Structure Creation and Configuration Agent using natural language, and three reporting agents that automate data source creation for Tableau, Power BI and Data Studio. These AI capabilities are integrated into Tempo's apps via Atlassian's Forge platform, replacing individual marketplace downloads. The company is also launching the Tempo Maestro Program to support practitioners driving strategic transformations. The programme focuses on product co-innovation, thought leadership and ecosystem leadership. Jira users with active Rovo subscriptions can access the new integrations immediately.
