Requirements
  • Have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Be able to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe tools.
  • Have three to five years of experience in nuclear waste-related activities or waste-type activities, or an associate degree.
  • Have experience working and performing tasks in the energy industry, including oil and gas, power and utilities, or nuclear energy.
  • Have knowledge of waste packaging and the regulatory requirements necessary to characterize and ship waste.
  • Have Generator Certification Official experience and familiarity with requirements for off-site shipments.
  • Meet the requirements for a 40-hour work week scheduled Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be eligible for a United States government Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as Employment Authorization.
  • Be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigation, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • Be able to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement if required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical specifications, statements of work, and business case documentation for cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assist with assessments for waste compliance validation and implementation.
  • Support waste shipments by performing weighing, surveying, and manifesting activities.
  • Run the scheduling process for LWO waste shipments.
  • Provide oversight for radiological laundry personal protective equipment and associated procurement activities.
  • Assist with issuing new contracts for clean-waste hauling activities.
  • Work with the Waste Program Manager on outsourcing options for the current waste disposition process, including developing technical specifications and transition plans for contracting.
  • Interface with procedure writers, Industrial Hygiene, Radiological Control, Safety, and operations personnel on waste manual revisions.
  • Perform Generator Certification Official activities to improve the Waste Minimization Process.
  • Review Department of Transportation requirements for site waste-hauling activities.
  • Ship hazardous/mixed waste on and off site.
  • Coordinate occasional travel for meetings, events, site visits, or training when approved.
